Dr. Prince E. Yelder, Assistant to the Pastor, Music & Cultural Arts

Duties include but not limited to all aspects of fine and cultural arts including song, instrumental, liturgical dance, dramatic performances, art exhibits, etc. He is directly responsible for the growth and development of music staff, singers and all others who share their gifts within the ranks of the ministry.

Biography: Dr. Prince Yelder is one of the most prolific musicians and composers in the country. He has traveled around the world in music ministry. Prince was born on December 25th, 1966 in Charleston, SC but moved to Birmingham to pursue a career in music. He has traveled many times to Japan conducting seminars on gospel music. Prince is also a composer with the Gospel Music Workshop of America, the largest Gospel convention in the world. Prince recorded his arrangement of “Just A Little Talk With Jesus”with the GMWA in 1996.  That song is featured on the CD entitled, “Mercy That Suits”. He has also recorded with the GMWA Women of Worship. In March 2000, Prince recorded with James Bignon and his 400-voiced mass choir. The tune entitled “He Made The Difference” on that project swept the country. Prince is featured as a lead vocalist and also credited as a session director for the album. In 2003, Rev. Yelder performed with his choir, Disciples for Christ, on the Stellar Awards with Angela Spivey.  He has worked with such notables as Kirk Franklin, Tramaine Hawkins, Douglas Miller, Yvette Plunder, Al Hobbs, Bobby Jones, Timothy Wright, Milton Biggham, Wanda Nero Butler and others. Rev. Yelder just released his own project with the Disciples For Christ entitled “Work It Out” on Malaco Records. While serving as Minister of Music for New Hope Baptist Church, he also serves in capacity as the minister of music or the music director for the Birmingham Community Mass Choir, GMWA Women of Worship, National Baptist Convention USA, Birmingham SCLC, Heaven 610 WAGG radio and Thanksgiving, Praise & Worship Ministries.
